SANTA BARBARA, CA – Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer travel season and is traditionally one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) expects airport traffic to be heaviest on Friday (May 28) and Tuesday (June 1). In 2009, nearly 13,000 passengers traveled through SBA between the Friday before and the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
Visitors to SBA during the Memorial Day holiday weekend should be aware of ongoing construction activity near the Terminal. Passengers and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and allow at least 90 minutes to find parking, check their luggage and go through the security checkpoint to ensure they are at their gate in time for their flight.
As part of SBA’s Airline Terminal Project, construction is underway with the new Terminal scheduled to open in spring 2011. During construction, visitors may need to park in the off-site Long Term Parking Lot 2 off Hollister Avenue and take the shuttle back to the Terminal. Visitors to SBA are encouraged to exercise caution when navigating Airport roadways and follow posted speed limits. Visit FlySba.com/travel_info/parking for more information.
Parking options at SBA:
• Short Term Parking Lot for $20 per day, located at the Terminal.
• Long Term Parking Lot 1 at a rate of $9 per day or $2 for the first hour and $1 per hour, up to $9 for 24 hours. Lot 1 is located at the Terminal.
• Long Term Parking Lot 2 at a rate of $9 per day; $2 for the first hour and $1 per hour up to $9 for 24 hours. Lot 2 is located on Frederick Lopez Road off Hollister Avenue near the corner of Fairview and Hollister Avenues. Free shuttle van service is available to/from the Terminal every 10 minutes.
